Be Aware of your Patterns, then Plan your Life around that.

Sometimes I feel like writing but i’m not sure what it is I want to write. This is exactly what I do when I want to Journal, because I know whilst I write I think and when I think then that it, the mind is moving.

This is a spontaneous writing. I have spent about 2 weeks doing nothing. Nothing in my perspective meaning, not doing my morning yoga and meditations, not reading, slacking at work, not excercising. Literally doing the bare minimum, spending the evening watching movie after movie just to make the time pass.

Recently when I get into bed, I feel motivated, I tell myself ‘alright, tomorrow i’m going to make a list of the things I need to do.’ Tomorrow comes and I think that I already have a list so why make a new list? I can’t ignore my late night thoughts of making a list and I can’t ignore my day thought that I already have a list.

Specifics

This is what comes to mind ‘Specifics’. The more I experience my lazy weeks the more I realise that it is my personality. I literally have a pattern of getting shit done and then later I do nothing. I have strived for consistency my whole life, I admire it, I see it as the ultimate goal. Now that I am more aware of my behaviours I realise that I need consistency in a different way.

I can’t do the same thing every day forever because I will die from boredom.

Even when I get my nails done I get bored within 3 days and find myself painting them again. I’m just that kind of person. I can’t be like those motivation guru’s on social media that value the same thing everyday.

Don’t get me wrong I do think routine is very important, I think habits are very important. But i also think there is no need for ‘too much’. Pick a few things that bring you joy and do them, you do not need to do what every Tom, Dick and Harry are doing, BECAUSE YOU ARE NO TOM, DICK OR HARRY.

I guess what my mind has arrived at this evening is that you need to be aware of your behaviour and patterns first then you can plan and routine around this.

For example, yes I have a to do list, but now i’m going to change it up every week or every 2 weeks, keep it exciting, not the same everyday.

This way I hope to keep my momentum going without dipping for 2 weeks straight.
